ArcGIS Pro: Installation

ArcGIS Pro: Installation

INSTALL PATH

Back 2 Top

We created this folder in softbank, which will always house the most current version of GIS that should be installed. (Right now it's ArcGIS Pro)

HOW TO INSTALL

Back 2 Top

Open ArcGISPro.msi and follow the installation guide. You will need an IT administrator password to do this.

HOW TO LICENSE

Back 2 Top

When ArcGIS Pro starts for the first time it will ask for you to login. Licensing through the City of San Jose is not done this way and you will need to choose "Configure your licensing options" at the bottom of the window.

On the next screen pick "Concurrent Use License", product license level "Basic", and License Manager type "PW-LICENSE". Press OK and ArcGIS Pro will close. Reopen ArcGIS Pro and it should startup fine.

CONNECT TO DATA

Back 2 Top

You can now start a new project, which is normally done from the New Blank "Map" Template. To access City Enterprise geodatabase data, go to the Catalog pane on the far right. Right click "Folders" and select "Add Folder Connection". Type "\\geo-data\geodb" (those are back slashes) into the box and press enter. Inside the "Folders" tree of Catalog you should now see "geodb" which contains all the GIS layers in the City. You can right click and "Add to Current Map".

You are now ready to start using ArcGIS Pro. For further training details, see Esri's training site for lots of free online ArcGIS Pro classes you can search for:

https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/search/

Contact the Public Works department about other trainings that may be going on in the City.

UPGRADE

Back 2 Top

ArcGIS Pro can be updated easily from within ArcGIS Pro itself. Upon startup select the "Settings" button in the lower left. Go to "About" and you will see your current version number and any updates available. Click "Download Now". You may need an admin password.

If the "Download Now" button is grayed out, you just need to log in to a Portal. Click the "Portals" button. Right click on www.arcgis.com and select "Sign In". Use your ArcGIS Online username. If you do not have one use this generic one:

user: sanjosegis

pass: citygis1
